About Ridgeberry
What This Site Is
Ridgeberry is a reference archive focused on boreal forest ecology and native plant species in Canada. The content here covers forest floor composition, native berry biology, moss and lichen ecology, and related topics within Canada's boreal and sub-boreal zones.
The scope is intentionally narrow. There is no coverage of boreal topics outside Canada, and the site does not address cultivated plants, commercial forestry operations, or wildlife management as primary subjects — those are adjacent fields with their own specialist resources.
Editorial Approach
Articles on this site are written with reference to peer-reviewed ecology literature and government survey data where available. Claims about species distribution, ecological function, or ecological process are sourced from documented field research, not generalized summaries. Where figures are cited — carbon storage estimates, species growth rates, geographic ranges — the source institution or publication is named in the text.
Content is reviewed and updated when new data becomes available or when existing material is found to be outdated. The date displayed on each article reflects the most recent substantive revision.
